Top deities
According to legend, the Zulu people originated from the Congo basin before migrating to the eastern shore of South Africa. Many of their beliefs have been mixed due to the influence of Christian missionaries in the early 1800s; however, there may be three million people who actively identify with the culture.[1] The supreme deity of the religion is Unkulunkulu. This deity is said to have created everything and everyone.

Unkulunkulu was the first supreme deity and the first man. He grew from a large seed into a reed that broke away from the plant. After he was born, he watched other men and women born in the same fashion. He created everything from land, animals, and other men. In short, he broke away from the source and there was nothing before him.
